George Lucas has taken the instruction in Transcendental Meditation in the 1970's as a student at the University of Southern California, and is reportedly still a daily meditator. He is familiar with the principles Science of Creative Intelligence that describe the practice, and help to understand the experience during meditation.
This web page lists the similarities that can be found in his science fiction writings and cinematic work, especially the Star Wars literature. Many non-meditators may miss the significance of many of the quotes and ideas, without the experience to connect them to.
Regular practice of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhis Program helps to understand the message that George Lucas is trying to convey. Those who are "in the know" can appreciate more of the deep message contained in his films.
George Lucas has known of Sidha Master Yogi - Maharishi Mahesh Yogi from the time he learned to meditate. Maharishi means "great teacher" in the tradition of Vedic Masters. It is apparent from his speech, small stature, and mannerisms that Maharishi has served as George's inspiration model for Jedi Master Yoda.
The intensive 6 month TM Teacher Training Course (TTC) and 3 month TM-Sidhis Program (including levitation) inspired the training program for Obi-Wan Kenobe, Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader), and Luke Skywalker.
Whether George Lucas sought to convey these deep principles of Vedic Science consciously or unconsciously, the Star Wars literature and movies have had tremendous Support of Nature (with "The Force"). The theme of "mind being more powerful than matter" are in tune with fundamental truths of the universe, the latest thinking in Physics - and Vedic Science.
The Washington Post published an article: "George Lucas: To feel
the true force of 'Star Wars', he had to learn to let it go"

Here is an article about George Lucas and TM. http://tm-ireland.org/george-lucas
George Lucas taps in to a fundamental desire we all have, to become more in tune with, and master our environment. He provides the examples of Anakin and Luke Skywalker studying, training, and growing up to become Jedi Masters. This can explain why George Lucas as become a multi-billionaire through his work, and why the Star Wars movies were one of the highest grossing films of all time.

Science of Creative Intelligence, Maharishi Quotes, Sidhi Masters |
Obi | “The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.” | The Unified Field is the basis, and
source of all matter, energy, and consciousness. Consciousness is the basis of all life and the field of all possibilities. Its nature is to expand and unfold its full potential. The impulse to evolve is thus inherent in the very nature of life. All speech, action, and behavior are fluctuations of consciousness. All life emerges from, and is sustained in, consciousness. The whole universe is the expression of consciousness. The reality of the universe is one unbounded ocean of consciousness in motion. |
Yoda | “Do or do not... there is no try.” | "If we think of
defeat, that is what we will get. If we are undecided, nothing will happen
to us. We must just pick something great to do and do it. Never do we think
of failure at all, for as we think now, that is what we will get." All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think, we become. "Don't go for what you know you can get. Go for what you really want." |
Yoda | “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” |
The state of least excitation of consciousness is the field of all possibilities. Knowledge is structured in consciousness. The process of education takes place in the field of consciousness; the prerequisite to complete education is therefore the full development of consciousness — enlightenment. Knowledge is not the basis of enlightenment, enlightenment is the basis of knowledge. |
Obi-Wan | The Force will be with you, always.” | "You are the
master of all the laws of nature if you know the Transcendental Field." "Transcendental Meditation opens the awareness to the infinite reservoir of energy, creativity, and intelligence that lies deep within everyone." |
Luke learns to improve reaction time, think positively, act in accord with natural law, fly, persuade others, levitate objects, and use the Force at the Jedi training grounds on planet Dagobah and the Academy on planet Nabu. |

Yoda | “Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship.” | "The performance of siddhis, which in the days of ignorance were termed superhuman powers, is not something superhuman. Everything is within the normal range of man's ability. To handle the whole of cosmic life is within the range of everyone's own nature, because it is the same nature ... Until now the philosophy of fulfilling desires was to struggle ...Now we have to awaken mankind to a new philosophy of life ...I am reminded of a successful businessman in America sitting with his eyes closed, who proclaims success in his activities by closing the eyes and practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique. This is the changed face of success. Success lies in handling nature, and nature is one's own nature. The more you are able to handle yourself, the more you are able to handle the world." |
Yoda | “Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealously. The shadow of greed, that is.” | "Arjuna, you grieve over those
who should not be grieved for and yet speak like the learned; wise men do
not sorrow over the dead or the living” Maharishi's Translation of the Bhagavad-Gita Chapter 2: Verse 11 |
Yoda | “[Luke:] I can’t believe it. [Yoda:] That is why you fail.” |
"It is the purity of man's
heart and mind, and his innocent and faithful approach to action with the
purpose of all good to everyone, which really succeeds in yielding maximum
results with minimum effort." "In the field of knowledge is all possibility." |
Yoda | “Remember, a Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware. Anger, fear, aggression. The dark side are they. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Luke... Luke... do not... do not underestimate the powers of the Emperor or suffer your father's fate you will. Luke, when gone am I... the last of the Jedi will you be. Luke, the Force runs strong in your family. Pass on what you have learned, Luke. There is... another... Sky... walker.” | "Action is always based on the level of consciousness. A man can only see red when he has red glasses on, and then he cannot see anything other than red. In the same way, when we raise a person's level of consciousness, he can only behave rightly. An ideal society will result from people's spontaneous right behavior, which will take within its fold all the necessary considerations for the proper sense of values for their own interests and for the interests of other people. An ideal society can never be created by telling people the importance of caring for the interests of others. A balanced life can only grow in society when every action is spontaneously able to accommodate both the interests of the individual and the interests of those around him, and this will be on the basis of his ability to perform action that is spontaneously in accordance with all the laws of nature. Only action in accordance with nature will simultaneously satisfy the interests of the individual, society, and the cosmos." |
Yoda | “Use your feelings, Obi-Wan, and find him
you will.”
[find Anakin]

"Support of nature is so much now... Only at this hour of this transition, we have to be little bit careful. Anything that we feel is not good, we don't do it. That's one simple formula. We'll keep away from things which we understand are not right. Because this transition, only the righteous will survive. So, the heralds of the Age of Enlightenment have to be very very delicate in our thinking, in our performances. Absolutely. Any slightest things, because only the truth will triumph and at this time when we are seeing that the truth is triumphing now, like that we can't afford to depreciate our own value. Absolutely not. Just with that little caution we go ahead without much thinking." |
Obi | “In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.” | "What makes one luckier is the good that he has done to others. It comes back to him. A man doesn't become lucky by doing wrong. He becomes lucky because he has done good to others and that good comes back to him. And now he is lucky." |
Obi | “Use the Force, Luke.” | "Meditate and gain the
support of Natural Law" "The TM-Sidhi practices give us a habit; they create a habit in us to function from the least excited state of consciousness, which is the field of all possibilities. And functioning from the field of all possibilities means we materialize our desires quickly." |
Yoda | “Feel the Force!” | "Yogastha kuru
karmani" "Established in Being, perform action." |
Darth | "I find your lack of faith disturbing." | "It is the purity of man's heart and mind, and his innocent and faithful approach to action with the purpose of all good to everyone, which really succeeds in yielding maximum results with minimum effort." |
Yoda | “Named must your fear be before banish it you can.” | "Whatever we put our attention on, grows in our awareness." |
Yoda | “May the Force be with you.” | "May Nature support you." |
Yoda | “Soon will I rest, yes, forever sleep. Earned it I have. Twilight is upon me, soon night must fall.” | "Rest and
activity are the steps of progress." "The deeper the rest, the more dynamic the activity." |
Yoda | “The dark side clouds everything. Impossible to see the future is.” | "Don't fight darkness. Bring the light, and darkness will disappear." |
Yoda | “Ohhh. Great warrior. Wars not make one great.” | “Today we urgently need a new, more fundamental approach to peace that can neutralize the very basis of terrorism and war.” |
Darth | "The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force." | "The Unified Field, the pure Field of Creative Intelligence, is the basis of all matter, energy, and consciousness in the Universe." |
Yoda | “Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own counsel will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.” | "Vedic Science is the age old knowledge of life, passed down through the ages through the holy tradition of masters, to their disciples, to keep this wisdom in its purity." |
Yoda | “Yes, a Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan's apprentice.” | "Life is all business. Spend your energy to get joy, happiness, evolution, and to gain more ability to enjoy. In this field we spend our energy. We never use our time, energy, speech, or ability to do something that doesn't help us grow and improve our life. It's not worth it." |
Yoda | “Not victory , Obi- Wan. The shroud of the Dark Side has fallen. Begun, this Clone War has.” | "The Age of Enlightenment is going to take the world out of the darkness of the age of ignorance." * |
Yoda | “Pain, suffering, death I feel. Something terrible has happened. Young Skywalker is in pain. Terrible pain” | Unstressing can occur if the practice of Transcendental Meditation is not regular. It is best to be on the program. |
Yoda | “Blind we are, if creation of this clone army we could not see.” | Regular practice of the TM and TM-Sidhis program improves eye sight, and consciousness. |
Yoda | “Stopped they must be; on this all depends. Only a fully-trained Jedi Knight, with the Force as his ally, will conquer Vader and his Emperor.” | Large groups of Yogic Flyers, practicing simultaneously, generates the Maharishi Effect, which can disallow the birth of an enemy, build friendly feelings in the family of nations, and avert war. |
Yoda | “Only the Dark Lord of the Sith knows of our weakness. If informed the senate is, multiply our adversaries will.” | Weakness is the cause of suffering. Regular practice of the TM technique builds strength in the nervous system. |
Yoda | “(Obi-Wan) "That boy is our last hope."
(Yoda) "No, there is another."” |
Anyone can become a meditator and Sidha, to be a great hope for the future of mankind. |
Yoda | “Strong is Vader. Mind what you have learned. Save you it can.” | Each of us can develop a stronger mind, with regular, disciplined practice of the TM technique, for 20 minutes twice a day. It can save our health and well being. |
Obi | “I have something here for you. Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn't allow it. He feared you might follow old Obi-Wan on some damn fool idealistic crusade like your father did. It's your father's light saber. This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or as random as a blaster, but an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times, before the Empire.” | The knowledge
of the TM technique has been passed down from father to son, and from master
to assistant, for centuries. The easy, natural, and effortless mental
technique for developing inner light, enlightenment, is the greatest asset
for a student of the Sidhis.
For over a thousand generations, the masters of the Sidhis have been guardians of peace and justice. The knowledge is sometimes lost, causing dark times, then is regained. We are currently in a rising Age of Enlightenment. |
Darth | "The force is strong with this one." | The ability to use the power of Unified Field becomes strong in us, with regular practice of TM for 20 minutes twice a day. When we become one with the Field, we are able to gain the support of nature in our endeavors. |
Yoda | “Luke: What's in there? Yoda: Only what you take with you.” |
Question: What's
in there (inside our mind)? Answer: We are the universe when we transcend to experience the Unified Field |
